Congratulations to Dr. Cormac MacMahon and Dr. Philip Owende on contributing to the first virtually hosted sustainability summer school. The School took place from 26th May to 4th June and included 19 students from TU Dublin, 4 from Purdue, 8 from Coventry, 8 from UW Stout and 5 from Bahrain Polytechnic.
The program aimed to bring together students from all over the world and work in multidisciplinary teams on community sustainability projects using a project-based learning and design-thinking approach. Projects included assisting the Westlodge Hotel in Bantry in pursuing an Eco-label accreditation for a zero carbon hotel, the urban regeneration of a waterfront community in Mumbai. This gave students the opportunity to develop their critical thinking skills and be specialists in their professional or research field to solve complex sustainability problems in the community.
